1. Utilisation of user data
In principle, the user may use WorldGuide’s services without revealing his or her identity.

The user must choose a username and password. WorldGuide needs the e-mail address for security reasons, to reconfirm the registration and to send a link for account activation. The address details are necessary for invoicing. Additional personal data is not required to use the services. Data is gathered only with the aim of enabling direct communication in individual cases. Data is gathered only after the user’s explicit consent, which is given separately and can be revoked at any time.

The data gathered is stored on WorldGuide’s server. Any statistical interpretations will be made exclusively on an anonymous basis. The data will remain exclusively with WorldGuide, and will not be forwarded to a third party unless WorldGuide is obligated to do so in specific cases.

2. Cookies
Cookies are needed for the operation of WorldGuide’s website. Cookies are small text files with configuration information (session ID) that are stored on the user’s hard disk at the start of each session for its duration. Through their use, it is possible to detect and ensure access to individual pages within WorldGuide’s website by licensed users only during a session. The cookie is automatically deleted at the end of the session. The session ID does not contain any personal data.

Most browsers accept cookies automatically. A user will not be able to log in to WorldGuide’s website if his or her browser preferences have been set to disable cookies.
